70mb, only getting 35mb and restarting everyday.

Hello, im hoping someone from Virgin can help me, I have phoned "tech support" twice now but apart from "running some checks on my line" they dont seem too bothered. I was getting a super 70mb until a week ago, now 30-35 is the norm but only after I restart the modem each day, otherwise its 1-2mb. Whats the minimum I should be expecting on my 70mb connection? im thinking of putting one of those 24h timers on the power cable to save me having to switch it off and on everyday!

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Connection.

 

I've located your account and I can see an issue with the network in your area affecting speeds at peak times - Ref.(F005238513). Our technicians are working to get this resolved and have set a review date of 29th April.

 

This type of fault would cause the connection to drop out, though. When the hub resets, does it just reboot or does it go back to it's factory defaults?

Yes I phoned up a 3rd time on Saturday and the chap I spoke too was more helpful, he gave me that ref F005238513 and said it was due to work in the area, they are building a lot of new homes at the bottom of the hill, I assume this is the issue.

The speed has been around 35mb, however today its back to its normal 74! which is excellent, hopefully this will last.

I dont think I was clear in my first post, I was having to reset the modem each morning as the speed had dropped to 1-2mb and stuff was timing out, after and off/on on the modem it would usually come back to 35mb but I had to do this everyday. Today, I didnt! so fingers crossed!
