300Mb Home Broadband now available?

I noticed this new page listed under Broadband on the VM website.

A new 300Mb service aimed at home office workers, for an extra £13.99 per month.

The way this service is running you'll be lucky to see speeds at 1% of that. I'm paying for 100mb I used to get that, but not anymore.

Some areas will be fine handling it. They were trailing it last year.

Just because your areas are overloaded doesn't mean they all are. Smiley Tongue

I get full speeds all the time so if I (for some unknown reason) needed that 300Mbs then I likely would be fine to have it.

Our area got hit when the 200mb started to roll out, Prior to that many of us have been with VM since Blue-yonder days without an issue until that 200mb roll out. That pretty much led to the problems we are facing now, prior to that the 120/150mb everything was smooth. (is that 10+ years?)

Heres hoping those areas that do eventually get 300mb, and when they start introducing them to customer homes, can deal with it, because with these free upgrades, and increasing speeds year after year does bring in new customers which has led to the infamous utalisation and over subbed areas. Eventually it will catch up to your areas as well. Can't always trial the real world.

I'm very happy with Virgin ... I get this speed all the time! Not sure what is happening with yours?? Have you speedchecked using another Server?

Re: 300Mb Home Broadband now available?

You might not have gigabit Ethernet.  I'm using plugable gigabit Ethernet usb 2.0 adaptor with cat6 Ethernet cable.  I get a decent 220mb speed most times.  sometimes it goes down to at 200mb and I got hub 3.0 the latest superhub.also my pc is fast too.  AMD a10 processor 12 core, 8gb ddr3 ram, radeon r7 1gb graphics, 2tb hard drive.

Re: 300Mb Home Broadband now available?

PC specs don't really matter, only really would be after the network specs.

USB adapters won't be as good as direct Ethernet, and USB2.0 won't be very future proofed.

Is a bit of a thread necro though Smiley Tongue
