200mb package getting around 10mb at peak times

Hi

I have the VIVID 200 Optical Fibre package, during the day and late at night I get the full 200Mb speed which is excellent. However from about 7pm till after 11pm I get in the range of 7Mb-15Mb. Streaming video is impossible without constant buffering. Gaming online is also a no go.

I have reset my Superhub 2ac to factory settings, I have checked the cables in the back and I also have tested the speed with a wired connection.

These speeds are simply unacceptable for me. I know not to expect 200mb at peak times I would settle for a quarter of that. When I log unto my account and check service status it says no known issues. I've been with Virgin for a year now at my current address and a few years at another address without any issue. It's only been like this since Christmas.

Would upgrading to Vivid 200Mb Gamer improve my speeds at peak times?

Many Thanks

Re: 200mb package getting around 10mb at peak times

Sorry to hijack, but I am having this EXACT issue right now. Apparently I'm getting 0.19mbps download at the moment. I can't load a website and stream a video at the same time! Upload is fine. Issue with both wired and wireless connections.

I got this package in August and it has been awesome right up until this week.

Keen to hear what people recommend...

Re: 200mb package getting around 10mb at peak times

A month and no reply, these speeds are terrible got. Getting about 5mb at peak times now. There is still a few months on my contract or I'd have it cancelled. Anyone on here know if you can cancel the broadband aspect of my package and then be able to get Sky/BT in. Paying for 200mb and getting 5mb is sickening. Wonder if they'd accept me paying 5% of my bill.

Have I any options or I'm I stuck with this rubbish broadband untill my contract is finished?

Re: 200mb package getting around 10mb at peak times

Hello lamrockc,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community Smiley Very Happy

Please accept my apologies for the slow speeds you're getting, I know this is disappointing and inconvenient. I've checked on this and noticed that you're currently being affected by fault: F004959769 which is due for review on the 22nd March. While this is on-going you might notice your speed is reduced, especially during peak time hours and we're undertaking upgrades to resolve this.

Please keep in touch for updates and thanks for your patience.

Take care.
