Basically i had 100mb virgin media and was getting a maximum of 10mb speeds on a very good day and now that ive upgraded to 200mb broadband the speed has doubled but still nowhere near what downloads should be even with the hub upgraded to the hub 3.0. i get these speeds on all devices ive tried. doing speed tests will say i have 200mb speeds though but sometimes will only say 20 when i do it again but ive not once seen an actual download go over 22mb on any device wired and wireless. I thought this was normal untill a see a friends actualy download almost 200 a second which i was like "ok im not getting what im paying for". is there anything i can do to solve this?
Your downstream power levels are low. with some channels are out of Spec, and the upstream power levels are maxxed out for 4 upstream channels.
Do you have a Wide Band Attenuator screwed to the coax at the back of the hub? If so you can try removing it.
It may be worth checking the coax cable from the back of the hub to the cable entry point for obvious signs of damage, kinks and that all connectors are hand tight.
You will need to contact VM for resolution, either by waiting here about a week until a VM Forum Team Member picks up the thread, or give them a call on 150 from a VM line or 0345 454 1111 for a quicker response.
Thanks for the reply i appreciate your time. judging by your response there clearly is a problem then.
There is no Wide Band Attenuato attached and the coax cable appears to be good judging by how it looks on the outside so im kinda lost at this point. would it be worth replacing the coax just to try it or is there anything else i can try first?
Thanks for posting and a warm welcome to the community
Sorry to hear about the slow speeds you're experiencing. I've checked your levels and I agree they're not quite right. I'll need to arrange for an engineer to call around to resolve this. I'll drop you a PM (purple envelope, top right) to confirm an engineer appointment.
Speak with you very soon,
