200MB Gamer, getting 20-30MB

Just moved into my new house beginning of the week. Have had virgin media for a month now (figured I would rather not deal with no internet connection)

The internet speeds have been the most unstable of any provider I have ever used. On average it is between 20-40mb. Sometimes 60mb. I once saw it hit 170mb but the next speed test was back down to 60mb. I have tried it in modem mode with a CAT 5e cable to my laptop, seemed to get good speeds of around 150mb but then I had to put it back into router mode to use wifi.

I recently bought a new router and installed it today, ASUS RT-N66U. Put the Superhub 3 into modem mode, got brand new cat 6 cables from the modem to the router, to the powerline network. Upgraded firmware on the router. I try connecting directly to modem, getting 20-30mb. direct to router 20-30mb. through powerline from router 20-30mb. I am missing a 0 on the end of my speeds.

Re: 200MB Gamer, getting 20-30MB

Hello Lyzon

Thanks for getting back I have managed to identify your connection. The actual line and hub parameters all look good however we have a problem in the area with high traffic and this will most likely explain the speed problems you have encountered. We would like to carry out some area work to increase capacity, the reference is F004148686 with a review date of 21 JUN 2017. I have updated your account with the details so hopefully if we have your correct mobile number you will get SMS updates with our progress.

Please accept our apologies.

Thank you

Nicola
