200 Gamer Area 28

I've been getting some appalling speeds of 50 & 75 Mbps download however fairly good pings and solid 20 Mbps upload. This is mainly during the evenings.

Can someone at Virgin investigate this please. As a Vivid 200 Gamer I'm supposed to be exempt from throttling.

Re: 200 Gamer Area 28

Hi Joe, Have a look at this thread. There is a fault ref F005039426 for SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and FEC (Forward error correction) in Area 28.

Re: 200 Gamer Area 28

Area 28 is a huge area so those particular faults likely will not be covering you are they are more localised.

You may still be suffering from over utilization however, just likely a different code.

As a note for the gamer package, you are exempt from traffic management, but that does not stop over utilization / contention lowering your speed.

I didn't think there was any more download traffic management for 30mb tiers and above?

https://my.virginmedia.com/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy-30Mb-or-higher.html

"We've got great news for all customers on our broadband tiers of 30Mbps and above. After listening to your feedback, we've decided to stop applying our traffic management policy to download speeds. So now you can download as much as you like without worrying about traffic management slowing you down."

Re: 200 Gamer Area 28

That maybe so however VMs lack of infrastructure is hardly my fault. If the network is being over utilised thats down to VM lack of planning. Im on the top tier package as I need this service to be reliable and fast.

Re: 200 Gamer Area 28

So the service is incapable of being fast or reliable?

Re: 200 Gamer Area 28

if you require a fast connection that gives a guaranteed bandwidth then lease lines give that 1:1 contention
they cost £1000's for 10mbps that is the trust cost of bandwidth
