152Mb poor download speed?

Hello,

I'm on the 152 Mbps service.  I'm only getting around 27 Mbps download speed (wired) during the peak time.

Is there an network or high utilization issue in my area?

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

Hello max360

Thank you for the question and posting your stats, sorry about the slow speeds we will take a look.

The line and modem look good however as you suspected the area utilisation has built up and now exceeds our thresholds for escalation.

I have send a report to our planning team.

Please would you give us a week to investigate our options and bump the thread, we would then be happy to update and advise you further.

Thank you Smiley Happy

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

I would think the unusually high Correctable Codewords is a cause of concern (Pre-RS errors)

Which funnily enough has happened to me today.

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

Hello DABhand

You are not wrong. SNR is also getting a little low although still above threshold so agree worth keeping an eye on. max360 did speak of problems at peak times only so overall I would think his issue is area over-utilisation.

Approx how many pre RS errors did you accumulate and for how long? Did you notice it impact the connection at all? Can't see any reason for it from here sorry.

Thanks Smiley Happy

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

Hello SuckerHub

So sorry about the slow speeds, there seem to be a couple of issues affecting your connection.

The first is area over-utilisation at peak times. We area aware of this ref F002911903 and would like to do some upgrade work but have no firm dates at the moment. The review data is 18 MAR 2015 although please feel free to ask for an update any time and give us a call to discuss a loss of service credit.

Also I notice that your upstream power levels are too low

VM SUPER HUB 2 Upstream 0 27.3 dBmV
VM SUPER HUB 2 Upstream 1 26.8 dBmV

I think it is best we let an engineer take a look as this may impact speed and stability of the connection too.

I will send you a private message to arrange an appointment.

Thanks, speak soon Smiley Happy

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

Hello SuckerHub

Thank you for calling in.

I can see that the low upstream power levels have been resolved since the engineer visit and it looks like you may have a nice new hub Smiley Happy

I just thought I would make you aware that we have an issue with low SNR, ie noise on the area upstreams at the moment sorry F003512655. This is of an intermittent nature and may impact your speeds etc. We are doing our best to locate and fix it, the estimated date is 04 FEB 2015.

Please ask for an update any time.

Thank you

Nicola

Re: 152Mb poor download speed?

yes thanks. the engineer that came round was very good, kept me well informed and was thorough. My modem had a fault and was replaced plus he pointed out the network fault that was affecting my upstream levels.
