And after a chat with Virgin Media I found out the following:
There is a Fault in my area (that is not visible or trackable by me) called F004833913. Some users are affected
The Fault will be resolved by end of April
They might refund me some money, but won't tell me how much and won't tell me by which criteria they will decide how much to refund. I'll find out at the end of the month in the bill.
So basically I'm stuck with crappy internet at the only time I care (the evening) for the next two months and I will keep paying for 200mbps. If Virgin feels generous I might get back some money. Sounds like a pretty bad deal to me.
I guess my only hope is that this thing affects people randomly, and maybe tonight I'm going to be lucky...
Anyway called Virgin, which confirmed they have a fault (which does not show on my account), confirmed a vague 29th of April date, and told me that I will be getting 10 GBP off my bill, non negotiabile, until they fix the fault.
On the bright side I can cancel my contract at any time with no penalty given that they are so far away from the contractual speed. Which is great
