"Upgrade" Phone Calls

I received a call from 008001836409. They seem to have known my name and how long I've been with Virgin Media. They claimed that I can have an upgrade to my broadband and all I have to do is to confirmed some details. I asked if the offer can be seen online and if it can be setup there. They said that it can be it will be quicker over the phone. I declined to give them my details and told them that I'm happy with my current broadband. That was last week. Today I got a missed call from them, when I tried to call them back nothing happened and my phone hangs up.

I would be grateful if someone could confirm if this is a legitimate VM number or a scam. Over the past 2 weeks they called me 5 times. It's very annoying and it bothers me that that seem to have some of my details.

Re: "Upgrade" Phone Calls

00800 is an international free*  phone prefix and I doubt Virgin Media would be using that to call customers.

* Check call cost with phone provider
