firewall

Virgin has asked me to "configure router firewall to block UDP port 5353"

I can't seem to find a way to specifically write in these details - is turning on the firewall on my Mac enough to do this (it was off before)?

Also to "disable multicast DNS over TCP/IP on any remotely accessible devices". Can someone explain what this means...?

Thanks

Re: firewall

As a Mac user, 5353 is used for AirPlay, AppleTV, Bonjour and iTunes.
Have a look at the other posts on here under "mDNS Vulnerability".

If you block 5353 on all remote devices, kiss good bye to being able to use 90% of your streaming.
