Scam calls related to Router errors?

We've been getting a number of phone calls (Number witheld) saying they are from Virgin IT. Telling us first that something on our network is producing errors.

They are now telling us that they've detected a number of files being downloaded to our system which is corrupting our files.

I'm assuming it's a scam but they seem to be very persistent - does anyone else have any similar experiences? Any way to stop them? Is Virgin aware?

Thanks

They are ALL fake.  Get caller id and a call blocker. They are mostly stupid enough to appear on caller id. If number withheld, set your blocker to send those direct to answer machine.  They will NOT leave a message.

No one from virgin, Microsoft,  BT. .. will ever cold call to fix your Internet,  yiur router, your pc... and a genuine company will not hide their number
