Mirai Worm vs Virgin Routers

Hi All,

The Mirai worm is doings rounds in the UK press and TalkTalk is being scolded by BBC for not giving adequate security advice but when I called the Virgin Media customer service I was told that 'we don't support the Mirai system' which made me suspect they don't understand what Mirai is !?!

So my questions are: is Virgin routers susceptible to the Mirai malware worm? If so, what are they doing about it? And should we as customers be worried?

Regards,

Bragi

Re: Mirai Worm vs Virgin Routers

So, Virgin's policy is :  'we don't support the Mirai system'- that's OK then

 I feel safer already.....

 not.

...... this just in; latest scores Mirai installs 1.239,784, VM tech support detections Nil

i doubt it's eaten their brains as for that to work they'd have to have brains.

I think I'll get one of those "no cold callers" signs for my HUB:

        STRICTLY

no unsolicited  data.

       port scans.

         or MIRAI

cheaper than a good AV suite, right ?

Re: Mirai Worm vs Virgin Routers

Yep, I thought the customer services person would just have a standard statement to read since TalkTalk is getting some stick by the Beep for not giving adequate security advice.
