Fraudulent account opened

Good morning all.

Just checked my mum's credit report and there has been a virgin account opened a few miles away from here address ( different part of tge city) opened back June.

The thing is my mum has never lived anywhere apart from her current address plus she cannot even get Virgin in her area, so therefore has no need to apply or would not apply for an account especially in a different address.

Now the late payment is having a negative effect on her credit report.

Where do I start?

Welcome to the community, I'm sorry to hear that an account has been set up in your mum's name.

I'd like to investigate what's gone on here and get it reported to the relevant department. I'll send you a PM (purple envelope, top right) so we can get a bit more info to aid our investigation.

Contact the relevant credit rating company (Experian, Equifax and CallCredit are the "big three" in the UK) to report an incorrect item on the credit report and to dispute that entry.
