Email notifying Web Safe settings changed

I have received an email from websafesettings@virginmedia.co.uk which may not be genuine

I have contacted VirginMedia who state that they did not send the email and they have not changed any settings. The email reads

Re: Email from

hi Research,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums. It's nice having a new customer involved in the Community Smiley Happy

Checking the account it looks as though there was a registration for Websafe on the 22nd August at 18:53. If the email was sent around this time then I would think it is genuine.

More often than not, non genuine emails that are scams ask you to click on links to confirm payment or account details. As this email contains neither of these I am inclined to believe it is genuine.

I have asked for confirmation though and if it is indeed an unauthorised email, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks,

Re: Email from

I've just received two emails about this and one says

Hi,

Thank you for selecting your Web Safe settings, here are the options you chose:

Virus Safe - On
Child Safe - Off

And then another almost same time saying

Hello,

We're just confirming that your settings are now:

Child Safe: ON
Child Safe - helps to block unsuitable content.

Virus Safe: ON
Virus Safe - helps to block harmful sites and phishing scams.

Both these seem genuine but we haven't changed the settings

What should we do???

Re: Email from

And just logged onto our account and it says websafe is switched on and Child Safe is switched off so must rbe spoof emails.

And yet it's from
websafesettings@virginmedia.co.uk

We definitely have not changed anything.

If it's any help for someone to check out account they were sent 17th November at 21.57 and 21.58.

Re: Email from

All sorted. My son has set up an account for his new home and we recommended him. He needs to change the email address to his own. Sorry
