do i need an engineer? newbie

just ordered broadband.

it gave me the option for a quickstart to be deleivered or an engineer.
it said if unsure if need an engineer, order the quickstart and if any issues, get an engineer.

my quickstart is due tomorrow, i've just looked online and VM website for a guide for when it arrives.

it says to plug a cable from the router/hub into a VM socket.....my house hasn't got one that i know of (im at work at moment) will i need an engineer to install one or can i get away with a phone socket like the previous Sky and EE broadband used?

thanks

Re: do i need an engineer? newbie

You need a VM socket Virgin work on a totally different network from BT/Sky/EE

You should at the very least have a brown VM box on the front of the house, if you don't have one of those you are going to need a cable pull and that's a totally different team from the engineers who do the inside work and I doubt it would be done this month
