Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Sine the SH3 was first launched, I've read a lot about issues regarding the original firmware not working correctly when in "modem mode".

With the introduction of  V9.1.116V which I now have, has this issue been fixed ??

Can anyone comment if they have issue with a 3rd party router combination ?

No point in investing in another router if this won't work!

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

I have been using 9.1.116V since August in modem mode. What can go wrong? Nothing. And nothing went wrong.

Unless that DHCP issue that happened made to the hub 3?

or maybe you have other problem? Which is what?

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Hi

Yes i have the same issue with my Apple airport extreme. My service stopped on Monday this week and the only way to get it back after 2 hours on the phone was to remove the apple router and just use the rubbish Virgin box... They told me my apple device is broken! Ive had it tested and its fine....

Very angry

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Been using the Hub 3 in Modem Mode since it came out, with my TP-Link Router.

No issues with this setup at all

There is no reason why a properly configured AE should stop working with the Hub 3 in modem mode.  I've tested my AE (I normally use an ASUS router) and it works fine.

So, can you give us some detail about the "service stopped"?  Have you checked the configuration using Airport Utility to ensure it is still set up for DHCP+NAT?  Like it could have reset due to a mains spike or something.

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Hi dude

Yep problems with the hub in modem mode does not work! Had 2 hub 3 and both doing the same in modem mode with my router drops outs and packet loss reporting on it.

I don't know when they will fix this problem. Hub been out more than a year!

Cheers

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Hi Seph

This is how my hub3 looks when in modem mode with my router ive changed the hub3 cos i thought it was that but its not that. In router mode there is no packet loss when put it in modem mode i get this and sometimes d/c too.

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Hi Rocker,

The BQM addresses your router. When you are in router mode, the Hub 3 is your router. When in modem mode, your router is your router.

What is happening (like what activity are you doing) during the packet loss times? What's happening here is that Pings are not being returned in one or other of the directions which TBB treats as a lost packet (the red blobs).

In modem mode, from your browser, insert this URL onto the address line:

http://192.168.100.1/walk?oids=1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.1.4.1.4

The post-RS errors will be displayed. If they are not zero, do the same in router mode please using:

http://192.168.0.1/walk?oids=1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.1.4.1.4

This is just to check that nothing in the modem is going awry.

Re: Superhub 3 modem mode issues

Dunno if this helps, but there seems to be a hardware latency issue with the SH3.  It's a known issue and Intel are aware of it: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-wireless/Re-Internet-cutting-out-every-5-minutes/...
