Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

I have just upgraded and installed my new Superhub 2.  I have no problem with internet access on my PC (wired) or my iPad or mobile phone (both wireless), but the speed has dropped significantly.  With my previous setup of a Virgin modem and my own wireless router I was regularly getting speeds of nearly 20Mb, which was my maximum speed.  However, I have just done another speed test with the same software (Speedtest.net by Ookla) on my PC and I am barely getting 2.5Mb (download speed) and 0.05Mb (upload speed) even though I should have been upgraded to a speed nearer 50Mb.

Am I just jumping the gun by expecting to get a higher speed immediately - I installed the Superhub at around 6pm today (it's just gone 9pm now)? Has an engineer got to come and do something at the local Virgin box on the street?

I hope someone will reassure me that all will be well and as it should be! Thanks for any advice.

Re: Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

if you have been upgraded there should be no waiting time - if not you should still be getting the 20 you had before - the process is they send a config file to the SH and thats kicks the speed in

log into superhub - 192.168.0.1 - click router status [top right] - and post the downstream and upstream figures

also post the operation config - max traffic rate to confirm your speed

you can put it into modem mode - in fact as a test it would be useful to do that and just connect one pc to the port next to the coax in

to get out of modem mode 192.168.100.1

Re: Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

I'm pleased to tell you that I have lightning speed at last! I put the Superhub into modem mode and totally lost connection.  However when I changed it back to router mode and did another speed test my download speed went up to 53.67Mbps and the upload speed went up to 2.61Mbps (is this good - I'm not familiar with upload speeds?!).

Thanks very much for your help!

Re: Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

excellent - i think you were stuck between 2 configs or the config had not reset itself - if you log in now i would think the downstream grab would look much different to what you posted - you had one channel there - you will have 6 maybe 8 now and you will be on DOCSIS3 rather than DOCSIS

glad it all sorted itself out

Re: Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

Hi jacquildavies,

I'm pleased to see that adacom got things all sorted out for you.

The upload speed you're getting looks right for the general speed you're on.

If you need us in future the team here and our forum users will always be happy to help you out.

All the best.

Emma

Re: Slow speeds on newly installed Superhub 2

Hi,

Was interested in this post after my connection had become very slow. I changed modes and I've gone back to 60mbps.

However....it's not wireless but via ethernet only and when I try to get to 192.168.0.1 etc I get "webpage is not available"??

Craig
