Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

Hello Shaun

Thanks for the update, pleased it is looking a bit better, you still have the Principal Engineer booking by the way so may be a good idea to ask them.

I did email them with full details so perhaps they have had a look, have not got a reply as of yet though.

Either way fingers crossed it stays stable, let us know how the visit goes.

Thank you

Nicola

Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

Hi Nicola

Right The PT tech been and hes saying there is utilisation issue on the upstream fault ref 004771314

hes telling me cos its over 70% the upstream and that causing the noise on the network but i believe even if there is utilisation on the upstream they shouldnt be any noise and that hes saying no one around here phoning up about the net. net doesnt go off its the noise whats the problem all they doing is being lazy and doing it remotely and not going round to each cab and checking for the noise! Can someone left me know if this is right what he is saying? about the utilisation being the problem for the noise cant be this after 6 years.

Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

Hello Shaun

Thank you for the update. The area utilisation ticket number is correct but as you say one would not think this is not related to low downstream SNR. As luck would have it some of your hub downstreams have low SNR at the moment so I quickly logged into the CMTS and noted that the upstream/downstream traffic is low. I have passed all this information on to the AFM and am awaiting a reply. We will do our best to keep you updated. I am off after today until next Wednesday however I am sure my friend Jen_A will happily keep an eye on things for you in the meantime, we will not let it drop.

Thank you for you continued patience

Nicola

Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

IMHO the AFM needs to chase this up vigorously.  This problem should not have been going on for 6 years.  While I understand intermittent faults can be a pain to diagnose, someone appears to be slacking on this one.

My understanding is that utilisation wouldn't cause SNR drops.  This occurs when noise is injected into the channel via a number of possible avenues.  In my case, the issue was caused when a customer was disconnected in a neighbouring street but the line wasn't capped properly.

Tim

Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

Hi Nicola and tim

Hi all I knew I was right.
Tim the guy what slacking is Neil ##### that's the guy what threatened me with charging me £100 for call outs cos all they kept doing was checking my cables and my cab and not doing his job right! I took a year out and got help from Steph and horseman and worked out what it was after another year told them it was noise this other Pt came Friday fixed it Saturday and rang me Monday told me i was right it was noise after checking the networks that's all Neil had to do! But this guy doesn't like doing anything no wonder Sheffield bad with this guy in charge! Got the ceo team ringing me today about the hub3 I will also tell them about this too!
Cheers
Shaun

Re: NOISE STILL ON THE NETWORK IN S6 AFTER 6 YEARS!

HI Tim and NIcola

That's guy been today telling my brother there's nothing wrong! Telling my bother that it doesn't matter if SNR drops below 35 and that if it goes to 38/39/40 its bad! Where do you find these people to work for virgin when they don't have a clue what they doing!
Then when he left telling my brother if we call them out again its £99 charge!
I know there's noise on the network I go round o next doors and he's got sh2 with loads of post RS errors!
So how do they not know what they are doing in Sheffield????also telling us that number on hub3 isn't post RS errors! Lol joke joke joke

Cheers
Shaun
