Max Length of cable without deterioration.

Hi

I run a fairly long length of network cable down the side of the house in underground trunking, not sure if its 5/5e/6 as it was installed a long while ago.

I get excellent performance, but Im going to need to add a bit more cable length to the inside of the house as Im going to be eventually moving my n66u router more centrally and the SH1 will be in modem mode which is at the front of the house and cant really be moved without a lot of hassle.

What is the maximum length without deterioration?

At a guess I would say if I add all the cables together from the n66u to the iMac I have wired it will be about 40metres.

Cheers

I believe the question was for the users local cat5e/cat6 network cable not the coax from the cabinet

Re: Max Length of cable without deterioration.

There are a few factors that would affect the degradation mainly interference.
If possible ensure it's a single run & use good quality well shielded cat6.
