Lost MDD Timeout and RCS Partial Service

Hi

I pay for 100mb broadband (superhub 3) and have an ongoing issue for months.  I have months worth of speedtest.net speed test results - these vary from 1Mbps to 110Mbps.   My broadband speed is never consistent but mostly falls between 1 - 15Mbps.

Despite numerous calls and 3 engineer visits the issue has never been resolved.   I've given up calling in to get help as each call is treated as a new issue and is never resolved.     In a final act of desperation I've been looking at the network log file on the router.   The log is full of 2 event types:

Lost MDD Timeout

RCS Partial Service

Can anyone help me understand what these mean, if these indicate a speed issue,  and how to resolve my ongoing speed issues?

Thanks

Re: Lost MDD Timeout and RCS Partial Service

Hi MW6,

Welcome to our Forum. I'm glad you've joined and hope I can be of help Smiley Happy

I have just tested your connection but can honestly find no explanation for the timeouts you're reporting.

For the past 7 days - the time your Hub has been online since it's last reboot - there 0 timeouts and the power levels, for both the up and downstream channels, are optimal.

The network itself is free from error too.

Would you do me a favour please and post your Hub logs on here? I'll then inspect them and cross reference with our data to see if I can spot anything.

Many thanks Smiley Happy

Re: Lost MDD Timeout and RCS Partial Service

Just to add some context around my download speeds - today I've had the following results

103Mbps

4.53Mbps

27.51Mbps

This is fairly typical - speeds are erratic throughout the day and night.   Small speed drops would normally not be noticed, but I constantly wait for web pages to load, videos to buffer, and VoIP calls stutter etc

Re: Lost MDD Timeout and RCS Partial Service

Hi MW6,

Thanks for posting that.

I've just re-tested and your Hub is only locking on to a single upstream. CMTS checks reveal the upstream impairment, though there are no other issues at all on the upstream segment.

I propose that we get an engineer sent out to you, to check things over. If no fault is found we can escalate to Networks. Please reply to my PM (purple envelope icon, top right of page) and I'll schedule an appointment.
