In relation to another post on here from a few days ago about connection problems I had a tech come out 31st Oct and he decided to change my old Superhub which I thought was quite a good unit to this new SH3 which I think is not a good unit. Anyway I am consistently monitoring my levels due to historic problems and over subscription in out local cabinet. I notice the levels and SNR have got worse after his visit yesterday and swap out even though he said he had changed the connector in the cabinet and removed me from a 3-way splitter onto my own tap and put me on the 'top tap' presumably the highest output. I have noticed some packet loss and slow browsing this morning so decided to take another look at the levels and this is what I currently have:
upstream is too high - thats needs sorting - see what that does
software update is usually nothing - it rejects any firmware for other hubs which generates an error
wait for VM to pick the thread up - that can take a week - they will arrange for a tech to come and sort upstream i would think - you could ring and work from the scripts - what that will do is anybodies guess
Thanks, I thought that upstream was too high but that is how the tech left it last night and said everything was great, what do I make of the competence of the VM techs then? I agree phoning in and going through the scripts will resolve nothing.Tech also said I am on the highest output and with the cabinet being about 20-30meters away I would not expect to see 0dB ish coming in without any attenuation (of which there is none) and upstream so high.
This is the final straw if they cannot get this right I'm disconnecting, had enough. Last time I had to take it to CISAS to get a resolution.
To be frank I;m kind of fed up with the incompetence of engineers that come out. The first one that decided to change out my working SH1 just for the sake of it and fiddle with my levels was supposed to know what he was doing. The second one that decided the levels were out and did not answer my question when I said why would the first guy leave it like that then even when I could see the levels were not right, also was supposed to know what he was doing. Now I still noticed the levels are not right after that second one left you want to send another incompetent one.
I don't want this SH3. It is terrible. I want either my old SH1 back or an SH2. Every time I try to stream video using wifi it keeps doing strange things like blocking, freezing, buffering etc etc but when I do the same with a LAN cable direct the same video works fine. Checked with various devices, Video streaming is more stable with my 4G connection on my mobile than the wifi on the SH3. Yes my wifi settings are fine, I have a supposed 144Mbps link speed with full signal strength yet it is worse than my 4G mobile connection. No my speed D/L and U/L are not a problem during any of the issues I experience yet during ping tests I see packets dropped.
Had enough. Written a complaint to Matrix Court, Swansea.
