Internet keeps disconnecting.

Hello

For the last 2 months iv been having constant disconnects. This can happen up to 2/3 a hour and its getting really frustrating as its knocking me off anything i am doing at the time. It only disconnects for a few seconds each time but im having to reconnect to everything im doing all the time. Iv rang virgin media up 4 times and every time they have told me they have sorted it out but each time it still happens Smiley Sad  is there anybody on here that could help me out as im getting nowhere with the phone calls. 

Im not sure what details i need so sorry if this is useless.

Hello

Intermittent problems are frustrating.  When your internet drops do you notice the lights on the router changing colour? I know you said your on an ethernet connection, but do you have other devices connected via ethernet i.e. home switches, alternate router etc?? i would run a process of elimination, disconnect devices from the router. Monitor it on the one device if the lights start changing colour etc and dropping your connection then I would ring 151 from your landline again. I know its frustrating but tell the advisor its constantly intermittent on ethernet dropping off.

Another option to try before you ring virgin is checking that the ethernet adapter on your device is up to date.  Make sure there is no driver software to be installed.  If your using windows 10.  Rite click on the start button, go to device manager, click on network adapters, click on ethernet or local area connection.  Click on the tab driver click on the left side to update driver, select the top option to search automatically online and see if an update needs to be installed.

Thank you for the reply Smiley Happy i will go through the steps you have told me tomorrow when i wake up/ have more time and get back to you hopefully i can get to the bottom of this. Thanks again for all the information. Smiley Happy
