How to activate a sim card that is inserted to my smartwatch.

I have a Huawei smartphone with prepaid Virgin sim card. No problem with that.

I just bought a cheap DZ09 smartwatch. Right now I have the watch paired with my phone via Bluetooth and BT Notification installed on my phone. My Huawei phone ( android 4.1.1 ) is not supported by Android Wear.

I would like to get a Virgin prepaid sim card for the watch so that the watch will become a standalone device.
Can I do that ? If yes, how do I get the sim card activated on my watch.

All the information about Virgin Mobile activations are for phones.

I cannot find any article about how to do that on a smartwatch.

Adding ...............

I tried to take the sim card from my phone and inserted it to my watch.

Contrary to what I have read, that does not work. The watch could not make phone call that way...... error message " no network connection".

Re: How to activate a sim card that is inserted to my smartwatch.

Hi davidhk

Welcome to the community Smiley Happy

Sorry you've had an issue using this smarwatch with one of our SIM cards.

It's not something we would support directly, however if it works the same way as a standard smart phone, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Have you used any other SIMs in the device?

Many thanks

No, I have not used another sim card.
The sim card I have been using is from Virgin, and it  is a prepaid sim card.

Re: How to activate a sim card that is inserted to my smartwatch.

Thanks for confirming davidhk.

If the SIM is working in your phone okay, we know it's provisioned correctly and working as it should.

It would indicate either a fault with the watch or a configuration issue.

It might be worth trying a friend or family member's SIM in to see if any SIM card works and perhaps seeking support from the supplier of the device.

Let me know how you get on.

Many thanks

Re: How to activate a sim card that is inserted to my smartwatch.

I gave up trying.

For now, I keep my phone and watch within range. If I go out, I'll take both with me.

Either that, I 'll just remove the Bluetooth pairing, use the watch as watch and phone as phone.

t's not a big issue to me.

Thank you for your time. I won't pursue the matter any further.
