Ethernet

Help

Hub 3 in the kitchen connected to the computer by Ethernet cable CAT5, I wish to run another Ethernet cable back (CAT6 ) to the apple TV and connect by Ethernet and possible fit another router can anybody see any problems ????. I will change The CAT5 to CAT6 cable. If Iwas to by another router what should i buy ????

If you are only using Ethernet connections I would go for a gigabit switch. Not sure of your setup ( I assume PC is in another room)  you could connect the switch to hub and other devices, including the PC to the switch.

Just a simple gigabit switch will do, you don't need anything fancy, the DLink looks fine.

As soon as my Dlink gigabyte arrives i will have to change the setting of the HUB3 modem mode 

 modem mode on your Hub 3.0

No, the switch is just to exyend the ethernet connections, the routing and wireless will still be handled by the hub.

 Yes thanks as the gigabyte is not wirless
