Ethernet connection between TiVo and super hub.

I have read about this on the support site and have a question. Can this connection (using gigabit Ethernet either with or without a powerline link) be used instead of the coax connection (which comes from the splitter) or is it purely to support the addition of TV Anywhere?

Re: Ethernet connection between TiVo and super hub.

Every set top box from Virgin Media must have a connection to the cable network.

Connecting a TiVo or V6 to your home network Superhub enables two things:

1. Use of the TV Anywhere app as a replacement for your physical TiVo or V6 remote;

2. Participation in MRS if you have multiple TiVos and/or V6s which allows you to watch recordings from ine box on the TV connected to a different box.
