Re: Dynamic Range Window violation

Your downstream is too low and upstream power too high (though the upstream has not maxed out on your stats). Most likely due to the hot weather.

The "dynamic range window violation" error happens when power levels on channels get too far apart from each other.

See here for more info on power levels:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/QuickStart-set-up-and/Power-levels/m-p/3195798#M63113

You'll need a tech visit to investigate and probably put you on another tap at the cabinet to increase the downstream power and lower your upstream power.

In the mean time rebooting your hub may help re-adjust the power levels, particularly the upstream.

If you have an attenuator on your coaxial cable, take it off, to improve the downstream power.

The VM @ForumTeam guys get to things as quickly as they can, but it can take up to two weeks in some cases. One week is about the average right now for a response. They can arrange a tech visit for you. If you need help sooner, call in.

Re: Dynamic Range Window violation

System Over Temperature means the hub is getting too hot.

You need to have the hub in a location that's well ventilated. Make sure the grills are not obstructed.

rRe: Dynamic Range Window violation

Since originally reporting this issue, the connection although working, has been intermittently slow. The slow speed I've been noticing seems to majorly impact WiFi with speeds as low as 0.50Mbps. Wired connection is still impacted (Average 10Mpbs) but browsing and watching videos is fine, which while on wifi is not.

Any ideas?

Yeah, some of your power levels are still out of acceptable range. I've already notified the @ModTeam as your thread seems to have been missed. You should get some service from the @ForumTeam on Monday who can check your connection and arrange a tech visit.

See what the wifi is like once the power levels are back in range.

Re: rRe: Dynamic Range Window violation

Everything looks fine on your power levels and downstream SNR, but the issue (noise) could be on the upstream and only VM can see your upstream SNR from their end.

The log doesn't help much as there's only a couple of T3 timeouts spaced a week apart.

Helps if you setup a BQM graph as it can show upstream noise: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/list

Re: rRe: Dynamic Range Window violation

Sorry to hear this barnesg,

I've had a look at everything from this end and I'm unable to detect any fault either via the equipment levels or network segment at the moment.

Let me know if you're still having trouble with your connection since posting,

Nat_J
