Diconnects at similar times througout the day?

Hi All

For about 4 weeks now the internet disconnects at various times throughout the day- sometimes it comes back quickly and sometimes I do a restart to bring it back. Its normally around -

9.30am

12.30 pm

5.00pm

9.30 pm

Downstream power is -1.42 to -3.03

Upstream its about 45-46

Any ideas what i could/should do?

Go to your Superhub Log in screen

Do NOT log in.

Little button top right.....


Can you post Upstream, Downstream and Network logs.



Screen caps are nice, C&P will do- Don't stress about formatting if you C&P. Someone will get a look and see if there's anything obvious amiss.

Downstreams okay, upstream is  a bit weird..

Set up a BQM

 HERE

 Run it for say 24 hrs, and post the result.

 Dont forget youll need to make sure your super hub is configured to reply to ICMP echo requests...

 That will allow us to see if its WAN side dropping out or LAN side

How are you connecting to the HUB?

Are you experiencing the drops on a wired or wireless connection? It would be worth testing with a device connected directly to the hub, if not already done so,

As Kippies has said one of your upstream channels is dropping back to the more noise tolerant 16 QAM modulation. This may be worth keeping an eye on as it could be just a spurious bit of noise on the upstream or something more concerning. A VM Forum Team member would be able to check your FECs when they pick up the post, the BQM graph would also provide useful information.

Cheers Kippies- I set a BQM and will send results in 24 hours.

Thanks Griffin- All connections are wireless- phones, tablets and laptop and that's where the drops are noticed by wife and me. Nothing wired so don't know if that drops as well- I'll try connect laptop to router and see If i can catch a 'drop'.

the yellows not bad, about normal. A bit of packet loss (small red spikes ta the top) which is more concerning.

Well get staff to run some diagnostics their end...

Can you try running a device wired and see if you get the same drops?

that graph is a darn sight better than mine since Virgin changed my IP addy

When I spoke to virgin about this, the woman I spoke to had no idea what Think broadband is.. come to that she didn't understand when I said latency is high.. I had to call it 'lag' for her to understand.
