Availability only part of my street?

I have just moved into a new house, in a small cul de sac only built in 2001. I checked the general availability here some time ago and it said VM broadband was available in the postcode area.

Upon checking now it seems availability is only up to number 36. Every number past this is coming up with "unavailable in your area"?

I am at number 48 and really want to switch from BT but it seems I live on a street where VM only cabled half the street....?

I filled in the contact form some time ago but heard nothing back.

Is this a common occurrence, and what are my options?

Re: Availability only part of my street?

Hi nomadski,

Thanks for your patience whilst I looked in to this for you.

So the Area Manager has since come back and advised he doesn't know why this has happened and has referred me to the Growth Team. I have sent them an email to find out however they can sometimes take a little while to come back to us.

Once I hear more, I'll be in touch.

Thanks,

Re: Availability only part of my street?

Hi nomadski,

Thanks for your patience on this once again Smiley Happy

We finally have an answer for you:

'Our planning team are currently looking into this area with a view to build.  This is some way off at the moment though and I have no further information as to how long it will take in planning.'

Good news is we are looking at expanding to cover the houses that were missed in 2015 however bad news is it's going to be quite a while before you're able to order the services.

I know this wouldn't of been the answer you were hoping for however keep focusing on the good news part and you will be able to have our services in the future Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Re: Availability only part of my street?

Hi nomadski,

Thanks for coming back to Natalie with your information via Private Message.

Checking the postcode against our systems, your address is indeed showing as Non-Serve for the moment.

I have popped an email over to the Area Field Manager to see if they know why this is. Once I hear back I shall be in touch Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Re: Availability only part of my street?

Ok, thanks Kath

I'm just wondering if the first part of the street was built prior to our part and cable was laid only up to the 'end' of the original part of the street.

If that is the case, VM are really missing out on a lot of potential customers, as the second half contains 4 blocks of flats as well as a lot of detached housing.

Re: Availability only part of my street?

Well I appreciate the information Kath, but disappointed I'm stuck with BT for quite a while.

Thanks for finding out and posting.
