Websites not loading

On Saturday own Broadband router turned itself off and restarted. Ever since a few websites will not work. I have tried using my 3G service on my mobile and they load up fine but on my Virgin  internet it comes up with google could not connect to the website.

I have no idea how to solve the problem. I have tried restarting the router but it seems to do nothing at all. Any help on how to solve this issue would be most helpful.

Hi thewesthammer,

These can be a complex issue. Looking at your traceroutes. I can see the issue is off our network.

The first and most common step to take, is to try a static IP address using Open DNS rather then automatic. This is to check if there are any DNS / routing issues.

To set up a static IP address you will need the following details, in the properties >> advanced settings of your wired / wireless card:-

Ip address use 192.168.0.15

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Default gateway 192.168.0.1

Open DNS IP's:-

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

Re: Websites not loading

Hi there

I have got to the advanced settings but I cannot find a location to change anything at all. I seem to have a Super Hub. I can view various information such as passwords, Security and Wireless folders but I cannot find a location to change IP Address.

Any help on where to change this would be excellent

Re: Websites not loading

Hi thewesthammer,

These settings are located on your PC rather than within the wireless settings.

Generally on a windows machine if you follow the instructions below you can set it up, If it doesn't work please let us know which OS you are using so we can give you the correct instructions.

Network connections > Local area connection or Wireless network card > Properties> Internet protocol tcp-ip > and set a static ip and change dns there.
