Setting up new internet connection upstairs.

I am currently using the Virgin Netgear modem/wireless router to supply my internet to pc/laptop/PS3.

I have Virgin TV upstairs so have one of the white boxes on the wall that the cable comes from.

I recently bought a new pc so put my old one uptairs (right by the Virgin wall point) and I wondered if i could run the internet straight from this wall socket rather than put ANOTHER wireless reciever to put more work on my downstairs modem/router?

I still had the old Virgin media Scientific Atlanta modems so I plugged that into my pc. I reset the settings and typed in factory password/ admin combo put it won't let me connect?

There is a signal getting through to the pc, just the broadband won't come through?

Any help would be appreciated, I am wondering does the upstairs Virgin wall point need to be "turned on" for internet supply?

Re: Setting up new internet connection upstairs.

Hi VKenny,

Just to confirm that you can only use one modem per household, that is the reason the old modem is not working unfortunately.  Hope this helps, any further queries don't hesitate to get in touch.

Kind Regards,
