Internet connected, but not open any website

[ Edited ]

Hello~

I can't connect any website, even though my internet seems to be connected well...

I'm using DSL Wireless with a Netgear router.

I used well until last week. But, suddenly I can't connect to all websites.

I tried to turn off and on, reset, remove all website history and cookies.

I think it is because of slow speeds..... Is that right?

Even, sometimes, the message popped up, "Another device on the network is using our computer's IP address"

I contacted to customer service, but they said your internet is ok, your computer probably has a problem.

But, it doesn't make sense! I have two laptop and one ipod!

All of them have the same problem at the same time???

I'm at the point of being crazy!!

Help me please~~~

Re: Internet connected, but not open any website

can you supply the netgear model, also what version of windows are running on your machines eg xp/vista/7?

since it sounds like some of your machines are trying to use static IP addresses. this needs to be changed to auomatic to avoid further issues

for vista/7 - web link just do up to step 5

for xp -

1.

Open Network Connections

2.

Right-click the network connection that you want to configure, and then click Properties.

3.

On the General tab (for a local area connection) or the Networking tab (all other connections), click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) component, and then clickProperties.

4.

Click Obtain an IP address automatically, and then click OK.

Re: Internet connected, but not open any website

My netgear router is N150.

And, I'm using both window7 and mac os x.

Isn't that related to the speed of the Internet?

Re: Internet connected, but not open any website

what related? the TCP/IP is to do with how the machines obtain a IP lease from the netgear nothing to do with speed.

Re: Internet connected, but not open any website

hmm.. you would need to test if via a ping test.. if you do start --> search type in command prompt right click on command prompt run as admin.. black box will appear type in

ping www.bbc.co.uk (enter)

should say ping stats says packet sent 4, how many received/lost?

If that says sent 4 lost 4

ping 212.58.244.67 (enter)

should say ping stats says packet sent 4, how many received/lost?

Re: Internet connected, but not open any website

Hello jyhj134

I'm unable to find out any information about your account, but when that ip error message comes up usually a reboot of the computer should resolve the fault.

It's normally caused by the computer using a specified ip address when the router has already given that ip to another device.

If the reboot doesn't fix the fault then it would be be best to call tech support on 0845 454 222  opt 3 then broadband or 150 opt 3 then broadband.
