Computer not recognising a wired network

Hey, Ive recently started to connect my computer through an ethernet cable instead of using a PCI network adapter, but when i use an ethernet cable it doesn't recognise that its there and still runs off the wireless. Any help with this?
P.S i have tried plugging the ethernet cable into my laptop and it works fine.

@nulty can you supply version of windows/mac, if your running windows do you see any icon on the bottom right hand corner for local area connection? when you say PCI network adapter is that your wireless card?

Re: Computer not recognising a wired network

yeah either disable the wireless or should be a option to disconnect from your wireless.

Re: Computer not recognising a wired network

When i disconnect from the wireless there is not option to connect to LAN >.< When I open "Open Network and Sharing center, The connections just say "Wireless Network Connection" Where as when i plug the ethernet cable into the laptop it says "LAN Connection" And "Wireless Network Connection" D:

Re: Computer not recognising a wired network

if you go into change adapater settings you can then disable your wireless from there, also when using LAN you dont need to choose option to connect to it, its done automatically.

Hi Nulty,

In addition to the advice already given, please ensure that the Driver software for your Ethernet Adapter (NIC or Network Card) is installed correctly and up to date.
