Wifi interfere with TV reception

I do not have the TV package, only broadband and landline. The tV signal is therefore via a standard domestic roof mounted aerial.

When using any wifi device in the lounge where the router is - especially in the evening - the TV picture is very badly affected. I would add, the router is next to the TV where the engineer installed it. It's just a bog standard flat screen.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Re: Wifi interfere with TV reception

Sounds like the TV coax is not terminated/grounded correctly or the shielding is broken (or wrong cable type). Normally the shielding is more than adequate to resist Wifi signals.

Check the connectors (see internet for how they are supposed to be) and make sure the ground shielding isn't touching the core.

Re: Wifi interfere with TV reception

Hi Martin,

Standard advice is not to install a hub/router close to other electrical equipment, especially a TV, for the very reason you have discovered.  Unless you specifically asked the engineer to put it where it is, then he has messed up.

Is there enough slack in the cable to relocate the hub ... if not you can get a cable to replace or extend the existing one ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_6?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=virgin+media+ext...

Re: Wifi interfere with TV reception

Thanks guys.

Swapped the cable and also picked up a 4G filter. One or both appears to have solved it.

Thanks again.
