WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

I have opted out of WiFi sharing, but my hub is still broadcasting the "Virgin Media" SSID.  How do I make it stop?

What else should I do? I really don't want my connection shared like this.

Thanks

Any comment on this?  How are people supposed to opt-out of this unwanted service?

  • The website opt-out doesn't work.
  • Ringing your call centre doesn't work.
  • Complaining on Twitter doesn't work.

Re: WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

Please can someone help? I spoke to the call centre yesterday - they said that the website form wasn't working, and that they'd switch it off at their end. It is *still* broadcasting the "Virgin Media" SSID from my SuperHub.

Re: WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

I recall reading a few topics in the past where some people couldn't get their hubs to stop broadcasting it, even after the firmware that supported it had been pulled from their hub. They resolved it by pinhole resetting (rather than a normal reset) it if I recall right.

Any links? I couldn't find any. Am loathe to reset as I've been told that there's no way to restore the configuration - and I've got lots of devices set up.

Re: WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

Here's one link, plenty more if you search, but these older posts are from when the 2ac (or hub2) was updated and then firmware dropped down again.

Re: WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

@teabag Good find, I knew it was one of the old posts but wasn't getting any hits with the queries I was using. Here's a more recent topic with the hub 3 and the WiFi sharing being discussed (it refusing to switch off): http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-wireless/Hub-broadcasting-unwanted-hotspot/m-p/32...

Re: WiFi Sharing - Can't Turn It Off

Thanks Kev. Why is there no way for users to switch this off themselves?

I opted out by website. And by phone. And via Twitter. Only posting here actually worked.
