Virgin Hub 3.0 UI unusably slow?

Hello, 

I have recently joined VM and have the white Virgin Hub 3.0. (software version 9.1.88J5)

Is it just me, or is the UI for this device unbearably slow?

I have just recorded some interactions with my router and here are the speeds:

  • From entering the IP address to login page loading: 6 seconds
  • From login page loading to being able to enter text into the password field: 11 seconds
  • From entering password to Welcome page loading: 1 minute 7 seconds!
  • From Welcome page to loading Connected Devices page: 1 minute 15 seconds (during which Chrome asked if I wanted to kill the page load twice!)

Surely there's something wrong here. Also - why is the password shown in cleartext when entered?

Slow UI on the Hub 3.0 is a known issue that has been fixed in a later firmware release.  No release date yet from VM for the updated firmware.

I note that this is still an issue two months later.  (Although my hub's s/w version appears to have revved to 9.1.88T)

Has Virgin been any less silent on when we can expect a fix?

The equipment upstream won't be the cause of the GUI slowness. But it's a good job that Nat_J checked your line because a stitch in time ......

The current trial firmware v9.1.116V fixes the slow GUI. Guess you'll just have to wait for it or its successor to go on general release.

Thanks for stepping in Sephiroth,

 

The firmware update, as mentioned, should resolve this particular fault. However, we do not have any further information surrounding this at present.

 

Hopefully, the wait shouldn't be too long.

 

Upstream is also an issue here and will cause connection issues. We can certainly look to resolve this in the meantime for Diggory.

I also suspect that network issues have nothing to do with the JavaScript implementation of the router UI. 

I'll reply to the private message none the less in case that there are upstream issues.
