VM D-Link 615 Current Firmware?

Ok, I know the D-Link 615 is an old bit of tech, however, I am not in a position, currently, to swap it for something better.

So for this reason, can someone please let me know what the current firmware version is, as mine is showing the following:

D-Link 615.JPG

I have had a few issues with my router recently, whereby the wifi kinda becomes stuck and all connected devices (iPads, iPhones, iPods) lose internet (the wifi symbol still shows on all these devices, however, the internet just completely stops responding on all of them?), until I do a quick reboot of the router.

Perhaps a firmware update may resolve this?

Here's a link to the software download page for the DIR-615.  It asks for your hardware version which is apparently on a label on the base of the router.

Well I'm not a D-Link expert but the difference looks entirely cosmetic to me and with the same model number I would expect the internals to be the same.  The important thing is to establish which hardware variant you have from the label and select this from the drop-down menu to get to the correct latest firmware.

BTW, usually a firmware update will retain all your router settings but just in case, make a note of them in case you have to set it up again.

My router looks like this:

...and not like this one:

Re: VM D-Link 615 Current Firmware?

Apologies but I'm back again.

After checking the Hardware version on my D-Link, it shows "D2" however, the dropdown menu in that first link, does NOT have "D" as one of the options??? It only shows options for "A, B, C, E and I" hardware versions??

Re: VM D-Link 615 Current Firmware?

In that case I would not risk it.  Maybe email D-Link with your precise model & hardware number and see if they can help.

Re: VM D-Link 615 Current Firmware?

Surely, this is up to Virgin Media to sort out as they initially provided me with the router?

Does anyone from VM know what the official firmware is on this D-Link????

Re: VM D-Link 615 Current Firmware?

Hello deans6571

I am afraid we no longer provide support for the D link router. At the moment I am unable to identify your connection but if you do not already have one we will happily send you a hub with a built in router.

Thank you

Nicola
