Some Windows 10 users are experiencing difficulty connecting to the internet after installing a recent update.
In the mean time, there are a few steps you can take that should get your connection up and running again.
First, restart your computer.
Click Start, Power and Restart (not Shut Down).
Try your internet connection once it's booted up again.
If this doesn't work, you need to reset your IP address. To do this, you need to open up the command prompt by doing the following:
You can easily open the command prompt by typing cmd into the search box (Win + S). Alternatively, click/tap on the microphone icon in Cortana’s search field and say Launch Command Prompt.
This should open up a command prompt window.
Now type in ipconfig /release and press Enter. Finally, type in ipconfig /renew and press Enter Now try to go online to see if your connection is working.
If this hasn’t done the tick, you can also try clearing the DNS settings. To do this, open the command prompt window again.
Now type in ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter. Again, try to go online to see if your connection is working.
Once your back online:
Microsoft have advised that they have released another update to fix this.
KB3206632 was released to resolve this issue. Customers should first take the steps above if they are unable to connect to the Internet, and then install the update. You can manually check for updates by clicking Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update and click Check for Updates. Click the Update History button to verify it if has already been installed.
