Sonos minor skip when playing both spotify and own NAS drive

Hi there,

Recently had virgin installed with new superhub 3. Connected to the hub is my Western Digital Nas drive and Sonos connect. I also have a Play one and play 3 elsewhere in the house. We use both IOS and Android devices to run the Sonos APP.

If we play either music from the WD Nas or Spotify premium, we are getting a small skip or blip when the playing music. Almost if there is a skip on a CD.

If this was just on the WD, I would start there but as it is with Spotify as well, the superhub seems to be the culprite.

I have logged onto to the superhub and this is the current list of connections:-

Welcome to our forum, I am sorry you are playing music. I wonder if this is a wireless issue, sorry if I missed it but does it happen if you play over all Ethernet connections?

Both the NAS drive and Connect are hard wired ( ethernet) into the Virgin hub

Thanks for getting back to us.

 

Can you try the NAS drive and Connect separately whilst the Hub is in modem mode please, to see if you get the same issue?

 

Does this happen on all ports of the router?

hi Sam,

Thank you for the update.

To resolve the issue I have made two changes. My aged NAS drive was over 9 years old has now been replaced with a new WD My Cloud 2 Tb NAS drive.
My previous library was ripped using i-tunes (apple lossless). I have taken the opportunity to re-create the library using dbpoweamp and rip files in FLAC.
The second was to connect the NAS drive direct to the Sonos Connect rather than via the superhub. 

These both seem to have resolved the skipping issue.
