Router maybe suspect with edb-31617,a warnings

Eset gives me warnings about Netgear VMDG854 and Bad Access rights and exploit problems with EDB-31617,A .being the main problem Just wondered if it is a faulty Router. Now I had a post on here about 3 weeks ago with the same sort of problem but could not find it to add this. Can you also confirm that VMDG 854 is the name of the router as Netgear does not recognise it.

Re: Router maybe suspect with edb-31617,a warnings

Ok Found my old post. https://community.netgear.com/t5/DSL-Modems-Routers/Potential-Vulnerability-EDB-31617-Bad-access-rig... Sorry about that if you want to close this one and add that to my old post feel free. Basically just looking to see if there are any updates for that router to take the problem away.

Ok just found out it is a Superhub1 last firmware update March 2015.

Super Hub 1 V2.39.02 . Not sure why I thought it was a Superhub2 unless I have received the wrong firmware update.

Re: Router maybe suspect with edb-31617,a warnings

found this on router log. Network Log First Time Last Time Priority Error Number Description 26/00/2017 15:08:19 26/00/2017 15:08:19 Critical (3) 2436694078 TOD established 1. Acquired Downstream Channel (Hz) 411000000 Hz Locked 2 .Lock Status(QAM Lock/FEC Sync/MPEG Lock) Locked Locked Locked Locked Locked Locked Locked Locked 3. Differential Encoding Off Off Off Off Off Off Now I have picked those 3 as they are the only problems I can see. Not really got a clue as how to read them properly. Is this something that is needing sorted if so can you help or do I have to Phone Virgin for help. regards jock1e

Re: Router maybe suspect with edb-31617,a warnings

Hi jock1e,

Thanks for bringing your concerns to our Community Smiley Happy

Eset security, for home networking, seems to be mostly concerned with network access. The majority of incidents were linked to weak passwords (for both router GUI access and wireless connection).

We have a full page of related help on our support pages so please take a moment to read the information in the below link:
Protecting your Wireless Network.

Please let us know if this helps or not Smiley Happy
