RCS and MDD Timeout.

Had a replacement Hub 3 due to old SH3 was failing to connect to network.
Now get RCS Failure and MDD Timeout.
Below is a copy of the log.

This seems to have been ongoing for about a month.  I will lose my cool if I have to speak to another 'advisor' from the call centre who walks me through the reset and reboot diagnostics sheet as it is only a short term fix.  If I can't get it sorted, I've been told by my wife to switch to Sky.
So it's Virgin's last chance.....

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

Probably going to need an engineer for this one but can you post your power levels in the meantime?

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

Your downstream power levels are too low and your upstream power levels are right on the top end of acceptable. You need to all 150 and report it.

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

Downstream power levels are fine, it is the downstream SNR is too low.

With the high upstream as well, it might be worth checking the coax cable from the cable entry point to the hub for obvious signs of damage and all connectors are hand tight before phoning in.

You could always wait here about a week until a VM Forum Team member picks up the thread if you get no joy from First Line CS,

Sorry, you're right. I was trying to watch Cougar Town at the same time as reply to posts. Smiley Very Happy

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

And just to clarify: the Cougar Town marathon was my wife's idea, I'm just going along with it for the quality time together. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for the info.
What is an acceptable SNR then?

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

For 256 qam they should be a minimum of 31.5dB according to the DOCSIS3 standard.

Re: RCS and MDD Timeout.

Just spoke to 150 and was told that my problem is from over-subscription in my local area, so they are now load spreading until at least February next year!

I need the broadband to be reliable as I work from home and the local schools assume you have net access.

End Result........ After 20 Years of customer loyalty, Good Bye Virgin.
