UPDATE   Resolved this problem by disabling on board network card and fitting Nano USB adaptor . Did not need to upgrade operating system as advised by Virgin Technical last week. Now have a happy 81 year old  who can enjoy her Mothers Day without worrying about having to buy a new pc.

Not impressed Virgin  !!  A lot of unnecessary stress caused to an elderly customer
