Paperwhite Kindle can't connect to wifi - or stay connected

Hi there,

For ages I haven't been able to consistently connect my Kindle to the wifi. If I reset both, I can normally connect, but with a day or so it won't connect. Most recently the error message has been - "Your kindle is unable to connect ..."

Read advice about changing to WPA-someting but didn't help.

Help!

Robert

Re: Paperwhite Kindle can't connect to wifi - or stay connected

Afternoon Robert,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

Sorry to read you are having an issue with your Paperwhite Kindle keeping a wireless connection.

Does the Kindle connect to the 2.4 or the 5 GHz network?

When it loses connection do any other devices notice the same issue or do they keep working?

You can take a look at this guide > Getting the best WiFi to see if that will help.

Let us know how you get on

Sam

Re: Paperwhite Kindle can't connect to wifi - or stay connected

Hi there,

It doesn't connect to either - that's the problem - though I just checked what wifi networks were showing and only the 2GHz one showed on the Kindle.

The only devices affected in this way are my and my wife's Kindle readers. The normal format for mine is that it connects (not sure whether 2 or 5G) after I've turned the router on and off and restarted the Kindle. This typically works that day/evening and then, lo and behold, it's not working when I next try it - and it doesn't then work intermittently, it doesn't work at all until I go through the whole exercise again.

Sorry to hear about this robertwesthead,

I've located your account and I can see that numerous devices are connected to the network at the moment.

Are you still having trouble with this?

Re: Paperwhite Kindle can't connect to wifi - or stay connected

Hi Nat,

Nothing has changed, except an additional and I believe unrelated problem - I've had the paperwhite problem for years. My devices - not sure yet about anybody else's - can no longer connect to the 5G wifi, only the 2G. Please advise.

Re: Paperwhite Kindle can't connect to wifi - or stay connected

Thanks for updating,

We are aware of some compatibility issues concerning certain earlier Kindle models with applications such as our TV Anywhere service through WiFi.

Are any other separate manufactured devices affected?
