New super hub and laptop won't connect to wifi

Hi, I have been with virgin many years now and have had no problems connecting to wifi with my laptop. I have had a new super hub installed last week and now can't connect laptop to the wifi. All other devices connect no problem. The network is visible on laptop and asks me for security password but says can't connect. Please help! I am not very good with these things lol

Re: New super hub and laptop won't connect to wifi

Is it quite an old laptop?  What model is it?

Some old laptops have an atheros wireless chip that needs driver updates

Re: New super hub and laptop won't connect to wifi

Hi Lyndsey1972,

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear you're having trouble connecting your laptop to the hub. I would suggest logging into the hubs config pages through one of the other devices on 192.168.0.1 and changing the wireless security type from WPA auto to WPA2 PSK AES. Some devices have trouble with the Auto function and this may help. I would also suggest double checking what security type the laptop thinks you're entering and ensuring it's WPA.

I hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Re: New super hub and laptop won't connect to wifi

I had the same issue with a laptop I bought for my daughter for Christmas.

I could connect by changing the security on the router to WPA2 but every time I rebooted the laptop it would fail to connect again.

In the end I put the SH into modem mode and I now use my own wireless router.
