New router without using Virgin Super Hub 3

I've seen a couple of comments on this but still not sure of the correct answer. Can I totally replace my Virgin SH3 with a new cable router or do I have to put the SH3 into modem mode and connect it to the new device?

Obviously would be good to not have a second device but I read that the MAC address of the router is tied to the account and cannot be removed.

Thanks

Re: New router without using Virgin Super Hub 3

The SH3 you have is the only modem which will work with your Virgin account, so what you've read is correct, to use another router it means using the SH3 in modem mode :-(
