My VMDG router keeps dropping signal

Hi all

I'm at my wit's end trying to discover the reason for poor wifi coverage and continually dropped or freezing signals.

I believe there's been a chronic technical problem in my area (now fixed I believe) but I was hoping this might have the source of my problems...but no. I gave up trying to use the wifi, even after buying a netgear wifi extender/access point but this couldn't see my network. So in frustration, I ran in a cable from router to set top box but the result is the same. Streaming just stops (eg after 10 mins - reset, after 30 mins- reset, afetr 40 mins - reset etc). The only resolution seems to be the reset the set top box - nothing else works as everything is totally unresponsive.

I rang VM who reset my router but it hasn't made any difference.

I truly believe it's a router problem but is there any other way I can check this or can I ask VM for a replacement? I'm not an IT whizz so please keep answers simple!

Any advice gratefully received,

kamcarder

Re: My VMDG router keeps dropping signal

Which model is the HUB? Give us the numbers after VMDG and we should be able to advise further

Re: My VMDG router keeps dropping signal

Having said that, my PC sees it as a VMDG 485??

Re: My VMDG router keeps dropping signal

Thats HUB1

Phone retentions and demand an upgrade as it suffers from ongoing latency build up and the WiFi is not fit for purpose. SH2 or SH2AC (preferably) are the sweet spot ATM, HUB3 has firmware issues. Buts its preferable to HUB1

Re: My VMDG router keeps dropping signal

Hi - after some remote tests, VM have agreed to send me a new hub3 (beggars can't be choosers!).

So I'll wait for it to arrive and try it

Thanks for your help

Steve
