Modem restarts itself at random

For the past few weeks and possibly longer my modem has started rebooting itself with no warning, usually at night.

My internet connection will just drop and when I look at the lights on my modem the first 3 (tick, downstream & upstream) will go off, then it will reboot and my internet will come back up in 30s - 1m

Makes playing any kind of game or talking to my friends really annoying.

Re: Modem restarts itself at random

Posting some basic diagnostic info may help.

Navigate to the hub's GUI using http://192.168.100.1
Don't log in, click the Router Status button in the top right of the screen.
Copy \ Paste the Downstream, Upstream, and Network Logs.

Don't worry about the formatting, but do obscure personal information like your WAN IP address.

If this is an Ambit VMNG300 (check Tally label) then EVENT LOG = NETWORK LOG.  Since these D3(circa 2009) SACMs are limited to 4 x 4 bonding (or 4 x1 in your case) then I suspect you should have had "snail mail" warning to arrange for a free Hub replacement or one shortly (or they missed you).

Could take 10days for ForumTeam reply so perhaps 150/0345 454 1111 call to Retentions(aka thinking of Leaving Us) should clarify and arrange for f.o.c replacement to be dispatched to you,

Re: Modem restarts itself at random

Just checked and it is an Ambit VMNG300v2. I'd really rather not replace it because superhubs are basically the worst. Farmed out to the lowest bidder with terrible firmware, wireless and just plagued with endless problems. It just restarted itself again and this is from the log:

Re: Modem restarts itself at random

Hi MonkfishEsq,

Thanks for taking the time to post on the community.

Sorry to read that the modem restarts itself, which must be quite annoying.

Looking at your connection, I can see you are using one of our legacy modems. I appreciate you would rather have this modem than upgrade to our Super Hub, however these modems will be obsolete and no longer supported. For this to work with your current subscription we would need to send you a new Hub . I have sent you a PM (purple envelope icon, right corner) with some details for you to confirm please for me to send you a Hub.

Hope to hear from you soon

Sam
