Intermittent Wireless Connection

I have an ongoing issue with my SuperHub 2. Every two or three days the wireless component of my router seems to lock up and not allow connections. Ethernet connections seem fine. I have done a spectrum scan and although it is quite congested I am confident that the channel selected should function fine.

Upon reboot of the router all devices connect successfully for a few days when another reboot is required. Below is the network log.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Is it actually a SH2(VMDG485) or perhaps a SH2AC(VMDG490)? - You can check "tally labels" on underside....

However, in any event it's useful to post the firmware version anyway (and rest of the Down/UpStream stats). RouterStatus(don't login) > Status > Software Version.

The obvious clue will be if if f/w is V2.01.11 ?

Re: Intermittent Wireless Connection

Nothing obvious in signal levels and presumably the "Downstream" lock was you rebooting because WiFi was not responding? My SH2 is still on V1.01.29 and not used since July so I need to reconnect and see if I can replicate any of these symptoms but obvious questions are:

Do both 2.4 and 5G bands "lock up" (and Guest)?

Will dis/re-enabling WiFi/Radio restore WiFi connectivity.?

Does this affect any devices that have DHCP Reservation?

Can you still access Admin GUI (from cabled device) when WiFi hangs?

Re: Intermittent Wireless Connection

Hi Tony,

This does seem to effect both 2.4 and 5GHz (not using guest access). Initially I suspected a DHCP problem so assigned reservations for a couple of devices. But these also are effected.

I have not tried turning off Wifi and back on again as the family are usually shouting at me to get it working. I will try when it happens again though.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Intermittent Wireless Connection

Just to update. I had a further outage today 2.4GHz light goes out on the router, 5GHz stays on but is not able to connect on either . This time the router web interface was not reachable from an ethernet port but I was able to ping the router and connect to devices on network after setting a static IP.

I then had to reboot the router twice to restore connection.

Re: Intermittent Wireless Connection

Thanks tony,

I did a factory reset about a week ago which did not seem to have any effect.

Am I better to wait for support on the forum or raise a case by phone support? Can't stand the call centre script process.

Re: Intermittent Wireless Connection

Hi scoattauto

Thanks for posting and apologies for the late reply here.  I'm really sorry to hear of the issues you've been experiencing with the wireless connection. Great to see the help you've had from horseman. I can see that the hub has been replaced when you called in so fingers crossed the replacement takes care of the problem. If you do experience any further issues with the new hub though please let us know and we can look into it for you.

Kind regards,

Ty
