For the past few weeks the internet here has been varying in speed and intermittently disappears. Its frustrating - sometimes absolutely fine, then quite suddenly can't open a webpage. Restarting the router sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't. Happens on both 5G and 2G connection.
We upgraded to 100mbps a month or two ago so this is particularly frustrating as we didn't have this problem before.
What are the potential problems? Can I fix them? Where do I go to to get it solved? Thanks!
First of all I would test with a device wired directly to the hub by ethernet cable. Wireless is just too unreliable to give an accurate connection speed as it is affected by external factors like range, client hardware, interference and the topography of your home.
I would test the wired speed during the morning and again during evening peak to check if you have any contention issues.
Once the wired speed has been proved we can progress to dianosing the wireless connection.
