Here's the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/JM115XCs

On both, you'll see massive (14-20%) packet loss at tcl5-ic-2-ae0-0.network.virginmedia.net

Why's that then?

20% packet loss?!??! are you kidding me?

Re: High packet loss on VM network

nothing wrong with them traceroutes its normal to get packet loss on hops long the way it doesn't mean the traffic is being dropped.

Re: High packet loss on VM network

If you think 20% packet loss is "normal" and "doesn't mean the traffic is being dropped" you're wrong on both accounts.

Re: High packet loss on VM network

This says "anything over 5% is problematic:

https://www.pingman.com/kb/42

Plus, I was getting MASSIVE lag spikes during this time.

Re: High packet loss on VM network

then you dont understand how pings work.

The final hop on the traceroute has 0% loss so 100% packets getting there.
This means that there is no real data packets getting dropped anywhere on route. When routers are busy routing traffic (Going the primary job) they will drop ping traffic as it uses a lot of CPU to reply to things.

As you are getting 100% of traffic though to all hops after that its the router not responding to all pings but still passing all the traffic though.

Re: High packet loss on VM network

ping times != packet loss.
2 different things.
