Re: HP ENVY 4500 can't see Hub 3

Oh, I tried the WPS button but the only thing happening is that the printer tells me it's timed out. (whatever that may mean)

Re: HP ENVY 4500 can't see Hub 3

Hi Notverytechno,

Thanks for posting and a big welcome to the community Smiley Very Happy

Sorry to hear that you're struggling to connect your wireless printer to your Hub 3.

We've got a guide which you might find helpful, please click here. This guide will show you how to log into your Hub and access the WPS settings. If this doesn't help, we might need to look into updating your printer settings to make it compatible with your new Hub.

Please get back to us to let us know how you get on.

Take care.

Re: HP ENVY 4500 can't see Hub 3

forget WPS ... try manual settings..

Step 1: Manual Guide installation
HP Envy 4500 Wireless printer Setup

Before setup HP Envy 4500 Wireless printer on your wireless network, gather the network name and password, and turn on your router, printer, and computer. Gather the following items:

  •  Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
  •  Network password: The password might also be called the WEP key or WPA security passphrase.

HP Envy 4500

A computer connected to your wireless network

  • Internet access: HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL for software downloads, using Web Services, and getting printer updates.
  • Make sure the router and computer are turned on, and that the computer is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer. Turn on the printer and place it close to the computer and within range of the router during the setup procedure.

Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cable from the printer, if necessary.

Step 2: Setup Guide HP Envy 4500 printer to the wireless network

The HP Envy 4500 Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up and manage the wireless connection to your printer.

  •   On the printer control panel, press the Wireless icon , and then press the button next to Settings.
  •  Press the down arrow to scroll to Wireless Setup Wizard, and then press OK.
  •  The wizard searches for and displays a list of available networks.
  •  Press the down arrow to scroll to the name of your network, and then press OK.
  •  If the list does not contain your network name, you can enter it manually.
  •  Press the down arrow to scroll to Enter New Network Name, and then press OK.
  •  Press the down arrow to scroll to the appropriate letters or numbers on the on-screen keyboard.

note: You must enter the exact uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.

  • When you finish entering the new network name, scroll to Done and press OK.
  • The printer attempts to connect to the network.
  • When prompted, enter the WEP or WPA key.
  •  Press the down arrow to scroll to the appropriate letters or numbers on the on-screen keyboard.

note:
You must enter the exact uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.

  • When you finish entering the WEP key or WPA key, scroll to Done and press OK to confirm.
  •  The printer attempts to connect to the network.

Re: HP ENVY 4500 can't see Hub 3

Check your printer as well as network drivers. Check their update status. Update them. After updating if again printer/PC not detect access point then add the name and password of your router into control panel of printer manually by taking help from Hp ENVY 4500 Manual. Do it....

Re: HP ENVY 4500 can't see Hub 3

Hello, there.

I have just returned from work. This morning we have a new Hub 3 installed. Previously we had Hub 1. Hub 1 worked fine with our HP Envy 5544 but the Hub 3 can't detect its SSID. I have attempted manual install but that displayed flashing lights (failure). I've repeatedly refreshed to get the SSID to appear but it doesn't. My computer, iPad, iPhone and my wife's devices all are connected to the Hub 3 so we know the Hub is working. Sounds like printer settings issue to me.

Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

Kind regards Stephen

After persistent refreshes and reboots of all devices the SSID has appeared. Connection is successful! Phew!
